Fenestrae Fax Router

Receive faxes directly in your mailbox via Microsoft Exchange 2010

Receiving faxes on a standalone fax machine is time consuming, environmentally unfriendly and insecure. In addition, it makes archiving error prone and legal discovery difficult. It is far more convenient to receive faxes in digital format directly in the inbox of your email client. Fenestrae Fax Router (FXR) is an add-on for Microsoft Exchange 2010 that allows you to do just that. For companies that not only want to receive but also send faxes electronically, there is an easy upgrade path to Fenestrae Communication Server.

Use your existing phone numbers to receive faxes

By leveraging the Exchange 2010 UM server capabilities, the existing voice infrastructure and numbering plan can be further used for fax. This means users have the same number for both voice and fax. When an incoming call arrives at the IP PBX, it is routed to the Microsoft Unified Messaging Server, which detects if the incoming call is a fax message or a voice call. If it is a fax message, the UM Server does a simple Active Directory look up to find the email address of the intended recipient. The message is then forwarded to Fenestrae Fax Router. FXR receives the fax and forwards it to the recipient’s mailbox. If the intended recipient cannot be found, the message is delivered in a pre-configured default mailbox.
