Multifunction Peripherals

In the printing market, the fastest growing segment is that of multifunction peripherals (MFP’s), also called multifunction printers or multifunction devices (MFDs). Many companies have realized the cost, space, energy and consumables savings MFPs can deliver by replacing copiers, scanners, fax machines and printers with a single all-in-one device.

However, using these machines for faxing by simply hooking them up to a fax line, is not the most efficient – or the most secure – way of using them. Integrating your MFP with a fax server such as Fenestrae Communication Server offers the following benefits:

Cost reduction - Instead of connecting each MFP to a fax line, you can route faxes via the fax server and only and consolidate lines. A single, centrally managed fax server can support multiple MFPs, further reducing costs.

Security and Compliance – Regulations such as HIPAA and Sarbanes Oxley require that organizations take adequate measures to protect sensitive information and keep records of business correspondence. Using fax server software to send faxes from MFPs automatically creates a record of who sent what at which time. In addition, fax documents can be delivered directly to a user’s inbox, ensuring private information stays private.

Increase productivity – Using a fax server instead of faxing directly from MFPs allows further integration of your fax communication: with other business applications such as email, invoicing and procurement systems. This not only makes your business workflows more efficient, it saves you the manual distribution of fax messages.
